Gray Burnett was appointed to the Ottawa Fire Department June 3, 1922 at a time when his father was the Chief.

GRAY BURNETT STANDING AROUND

He served in the Great War from 1915 to 1919. Being too young after coming back from serving in the war he had to wait til he was 21 years of age.

CONQUEROR HOSE COMPANY

The Conqueror Hose Company was named after Ottawa's first steamer the Conqueror. Here is the hose team in 1874 with Chief Young pictured in the top left.
